1st Annual Ambir Kirk Memorial Scholarship
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Zeta Chapter is deeply committed to sisterhood, service, and scholarship. As a chapter on Michigan State University’s campus, we have excelled in service by hosting annual donation drives, mentoring the Lansing youth, and bringing awareness to many issues that face the Lansing community. The Delta Zeta chapter has historically had a strong presence at NAACP walks, breast awareness events and has even partnered with Sparrow Health System on various occasions. Not only has the group excelled in service but also in programming. The Delta Zeta chapter has put on many events for the community geared towards the importance of heart health, college readiness, and financial literacy, to name a few. This chapter is a group of influential women who only want to continue to grow and affect their society for the better.
Supporting this commitment, in 2020 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Zeta Chapter faced a severe loss. Ambir Kirk, Spring 2016 initiate, made her transition in November of 2020, leaving behind a 1-week old son, Cameron. Ambir was a vital member of Delta Zeta during her time on Michigan State’s campus. The current ladies of the Delta Zeta chapter would like to honor her legacy by awarding two high school seniors with a monetary college scholarship. The Delta Zeta chapter is looking to help advance the next generation of leaders and “pay it forward”. The chapter is looking to foster a strong foundation for youth to succeed in college and ultimately in their long-term careers.
